Other Guilds

In case you are unable to join us here are the other South Florida guilds

Southern Stars Quilt Guild Inc.

Southern Stars Quilt Guild Inc. is the southern most of the five Broward County guilds, and serves quilters from north Miami-Dade to central Broward and beyond. The Southern Stars meet the third Monday each month at St. John's Lutheran Church, 2919 Van Buren Street in Hollywood, Florida. The group kicks off with socializing and refreshments from 6:45 p.m. until the start of the meeting around 7:15 p.m.

The short business meeting is followed by a program, which might be something hands-on, a demonstration, a make-it-take-it, a lecture, or something else entirely. Programs are eclectic and always interesting. While the Southern Stars have refreshments every month, they also hold a pot-luck banquet at the end of their fiscal year in June, and a holiday celebration feast each December.

Among the activities that keep life interesting for the Southern Stars, in addition to an invigorating program each month, are block of the month, fat quarter drawing, name tag drawing, library raffle, show and tell, field trips to fun and fascinating places, intriguing workshops, annual charity projects, and any other worthwhile activity someone cares to spearhead. We are a smaller, very active guild where everyone has a voice, and we welcome new ideas along with new blood - just keep it off the quilts!

Information is also shared through our lending library and through our monthly newsletter.

West Broward Quilters' Guild

Gloria Dei Lutheran Church
7601 S.W. 39th St
Davie, FL 33328

Six members founded the West Broward Quilter’s Guild in 1980. Many of our members live in Plantation, Davie, Cooper City, Miramar, Pembroke Pines, and surrounding communities.

The Guild is chartered by the National Quilting Association as a not-for-profit organization to promote the art of quilting in the State of Florida. The Guild offers workshops, lectures, and hands-on demonstrations, occasionally with nationally-known teachers. Many of our members are available to assist our quilting friends with any problems they may encounter in their quilting endeavors. Several of our members have formed quilting bees.

At every meeting we enjoy "show and tell", a quilting-related program, raffles, prizes, snacks, and lots of laughing. Please join us - there is always room for another quilter (novice or expert) at our tables. The Guild meets on the second Saturday of every month. Our meeting begins at  10 a.m. at Gloria Dei Lutheran Church, 7601 S.W. 39th Street, Davie,FL 33328.

South Florida Modern Quilters

																					Our website is now www.southfloridamqg.com
Our email contact is on the website contact page.
We meet on the 3rd Saturday of each month at Patch Reef Park Community Center in Boca Raton (times and details on the website).

South Florida Modern Quilt Guild was established on an informal basis in 2011 by a small group of quilters who met regularly in a local quilt shop in Boca Raton. In 2015, SFMQG formalized as a non-profit, enabling us to grow by offering educational workshops and lectures, and giving us new ways to nurture and develop modern quilting in our communities. We are an active guild with members from Jupiter to Miami! We are a chapter of the national Modern Quilt Guild and our members receive all the benefits of that organization as well as our own local benefits.

Our interest is in modern quilting, which can include many approaches—reinterpreting traditional ideas with modern fabrics, using modern design aesthetics like negative space and alternate grillwork, improvisational work, and embracing simplicity and minimalism. Modern quilting, like all art, changes, grows and adapts from quilter to quilter as they find their own voices.

The Guild meets monthly in Boca Raton, Florida and holds regular workshops at different locations including Boca Raton and Fort Lauderdale. Quilters of all skill levels and interests are welcome to participate in meetings, workshop, sew days, show-and-tell sessions, swaps, bees and other fun events!
