Block of the Month 2017.........A Sister Sampler quilt
Once again we are doing a traditional sampler quilt and updating it to a Modern quilt. Today's Modern Quilts are known for the bold colors and prints, high contrast, graphic areas of solid color, minimalism, expansive negative space and alternate gridwork.
The feature of the year is "sisters". Sister blocks are two of the same block within a quilt that make a visually interesting design when they are arranged within the sampler setting.
Our Sister sampler quilt is a skill builder. It's up to you which blocks you choose to put in your version of this samplerquilt. Iwill give you two different sizes and it is up to you to pick which youwant.
There is a 9"block and a 12" block to pick each month.
Fabric estimates are based on yardage with 42" of usable fabric, and is Fatquarter friendly. The lap size (60") square one requires 9 fat quarters plus 3 yards for background and sashing. Thelarger twin size (78") requires 12 fat quarters and 4.75 yards for background and sashing.
New patterns will be handed out in January for the first block due in February. Colors to make the blocks to be handed in each month are:
March Black & white
April Brown & white
May Orange & white
June Pink & white
July Gray & white
August Purple & white
September Red & white
October Yellow & white
November Holiday & white
December Holiday prints & white
